Curtisville Lake offers 695 acres of lush scenery. Around the 30-acre lake there are hiking trails and picnicking. A new ADA accessible fishing pier has recently been added to the lake. The lake is periodically stocked by the Department of Natural Resources and the fishing is good. Activities include: non-motorized boating, hiking, biking, fishing, and leisure activities. Home of the Annual Family Fun Fishing Day each spring on Good Friday.

Poor Farm BMX Park PDF Print E-mail

MCPARC opened the Poor Farm BMX track in August of 2002. Since then many improvements have been made to the track. The track has hosted a variety of events including State qualifiers, State championships, and southeast regional championships. Pictures of these events along with additional pictures of the track can be found at wvbmx.com. A BMX association is active in helping with the track and seeking new members.

"For The Kids" Soccer Complex PDF Print E-mail

The "For The Kids" Soccer Complex is a project that continues to grow in stages.  MCPARC has teamed up with the Marion County Youth Soccer Association and countless volunteers to develop the complex. We now have six soccer fields, bleachers, playground, walking track, concession stand, restroom, and storage facilities. Fall youth soccer begins in August and will include play on at least 4 fields. An ongoing fundraiser is raising funds for the "For The Kids" program. Donations can be sent to the MCPARC office, and checks should be made out to "For The Kids."

Mary Lou Retton Youth Park PDF Print E-mail

The Mary Lou Retton Youth Park, located in Fairmont, WV off of Mary Lou Retton Drive and Old Monongah Road, is named after the 1984 Olympic Gold Medallist from Marion County. Included in its rolling 25-acre area are a wealth of facilities, such as five baseball fields, one football field, basketball court, picnicking, new playground and swings, new bathroom facility, pavilion, and the North Central West Virginia Miner's Memorial. The park is also home to the Fairmont Senior High School Baseball team, Fairmont Little League, American Youth Football Association, and Fairmont State University’s home field.

Located in Worthington, WV, this park is a beautiful 10-acre waterfront facility with a lovely dam and offering softball, pavilion, picnicking, playground, fishing, and horseshoe courts. Home of the Pre-World Sanctioned Horseshoe Tournament held in September and Annual Lower West Fork Watershed Festival "Railfest" every July 4th weekend.

Disc Golf at Morris Park PDF Print E-mail

MCPARC is pleased to announce that in 2004 we assisted with the creation of this area's first Disc Golf course. This first involved creating a course layout at Morris Park, weaving through the the gentle hills and massive trees of this quaint little park. The City of Fairmont has enthusiastically given their support for establishing the challenging and fun game, one that all ages can get involved in. The WVDGA has recently completed the 18-hole challenging woods course entitled “Orange Crush”. The 36-hole disc golf course complex offers multiple tee boxes and pin locations throughout. MCPARC has recently acquired the Guyses Run Fishing Park near Colfax. The old Eastern, Peabody Coal property has excellent fishing opportunities and unlimited recreational potential. MCPARC along with WVU and the Marion County Commission is planning major infrastructure improvements to turn this naturally beautiful park into a top of the line community fishing park.

Located along the West Fork River Rail Trail, Hutchinson Park is a pleasant community park located in the middle of the town of Hutchinson. MCPARC recently completed improvements to trailhead parking, added a kiosk and water fountain, and improved the existing playground equipment. Field usage is obtained by contacting the MCPARC office.
