The Wave Pool Will Open For The Season On
May 24th, 2008
East Marion Recreation Complex, otherwise
known as "East Marion Park", located on State Street
Extension, Fairmont, WV, is a beautiful, complete family park with a
variety of recreation opportunities. This 32-acre park offers tennis,
horseshoes, a basketball court, a softball field, hiking and jogging
trails, pavilions, a playground, picnicking, mini
golf, and the famous "Wave Pool"
and waterslide.
If fun, affordable, leisure activities are what
you are looking for to accommodate your party, reunion, or company
picnic, this is the facility for you to consider. We have just completed
paving our roads and parking lot making it even more enjoyable!

Each pavilion at East
Marion Park has picnic tables, electric, water, and grills. |

| Pavilion 1 is the largest
pavilion, and it has its own kitchen, restroom facilities, basketball
court, volleyball court, and parking. It can seat up to 400 people
comfortably. The cost is $260.00. (Please be aware that the gateway
connector construction is going on adjacent to this pavilion) |
| Pavilion 2 is the second largest
pavilion and is surrounded by a deck. This pavilion is close to the
pool, restrooms, water, electric, grills, and has seating for 220
people. The cost is $175.00. |
| Pavilion 3 is near two
volleyball courts, restrooms, parking, water, electric, grills, and
seating for 80 people. The cost is $75.00. |
| Pavilion 4 is near pavilion 3
and has volleyball courts and restrooms nearby. Seating for 80 people
and the cost is $75.00. |
| Pavilion 5 is between the
horseshoe and basketball courts, with seating for 50 people. The cost is
$45.00. |
| Pavilion 6 is located between
the two tennis courts, with restrooms and a small playground nearby
(seating for 80 people). The cost is $75.00. |
| The Police Reserve Building is
an enclosed building with restrooms and a kitchen. The price to reserve
the building is $30 for 1st hour and $15 for each additional hour.
All day rate is $160.00 for an all day event. Special rates are
available during off-peak season and for meetings. |

Mini Golf - 18
holes at this mini golf course that is easy and fun for all ages. The
hours of operation are 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. daily, weather permitting
from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Directions From Downtown
Fairmont:
Take either the Third Street Bridge from Fairmont
Avenue or the Jefferson Street High Level Bridge to the first stop light
on Merchant Street. Turn onto Newton Street going up the hill towards
Mazza's Home Plate. Take a right at the first optional stop sign and the
next left onto State Street. Continue on State Street past the Dairy
Mart and then the road curves to the right. Take a left up the State
Street Extension hill. There are signs at the bottom of the hill where
you turn left that read East Marion Recreational Complex.
When you reach the top of the hill and pass pavilion
one, turn left onto the main park road. Take an immediate left towards
the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to go up the hill to the police reserve
building. |
Directions From I-79:
Take exit 135 off I-79. If coming from the south,
take a right towards Pleasant Valley; if coming from the north, take a
left towards Pleasant Valley. There are direction signs for both the
Wave Pool and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. When you reach the first
stop sign at the Pleasant Valley Road intersection, take a left. Follow
this road approximately 1.5 miles until the East Marion Recreational
Complex sign is on the right. Take that right up State Street Extension
hill.
When you reach the top of the hill and pass pavilion
one, turn left onto the main park road. Take an immediate left towards
the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to go up the hill to the police reserve
building. |
