The
Marion County Parks And Recreation
Commission (MCPARC), supported by
Marion County Commission, Board of
Education, and the City of
Fairmont, was formed in 1977. It
is the home of West Virginia's
first Wave Pool and within its
parks are a multitude of
facilities covering over 3000
acres.
MCPARC is committed to the purpose
of providing you with quality park
and recreation areas for all your
leisure activities. MCPARC offers
year-round programming for all
ages: softball/basketball leagues,
community-ed classes, bus trips,
playground program, sports skills
clinics, special events, 10K run,
youth sports, and much more.

East Marion Recreation Complex,
otherwise known as "East Marion
Park", located on State Street
Extension, Fairmont, WV, is a
beautiful, complete family park with
a variety of recreation
opportunities. This 32-acre park
offers tennis, horseshoes, a
basketball court, a softball field,
hiking and jogging trail, pavilions,
playground, picnicking, mini golf,
and the famous "Wave
Pool" and waterslide. If
fun, affordable, leisure activities
are what you are looking for to
accommodate your party, reunion, or
company picnic, this is the facility
for you to consider. |

The Mary Lou
Retton Youth Park, located in
Fairmont, WV off of Mary Lou Retton
Drive and Old Monongah Road, is
named after the 1984 Olympic Gold
Medallist from Marion County.
Included in its rolling 25-acre area
are a wealth of facilities, such as
four baseball fields, one football
field, tennis courts with practice
wall, basketball court, picnicking,
playgrounds, pavilion, and the West
Virginia Miner's Memorial. TOP |

Located in Worthington, WV, this
park is a beautiful 10-acre
waterfront facility with a lovely
dam and offering softball, pavilion,
picnicking, playground, fishing, and
horseshoe courts. Home of the
Pre-World Sanctioned Horseshoe
Tournament held in September and
Annual Lower West Fork Watershed
Festival "Railfest" every

Curtisville Lake offers 695 acres of
lush scenery. Around the 30-acre
lake there are hiking trails and
picnicking. The lake is periodically
stocked by the Department of Natural
Resources and the fishing is
good. Excellent activities
include: non-motorized boating,
hiking, biking, and leisure
activities. Home of the Annual
Family Fun Fishing Day each

The MCTRAIL,
starting near Prickett's Fort and
ending at the corner of Winfield
Street and Morgantown Avenue, offers
nearly three miles of the converted
railway property for walkers,
joggers, and bikers with connecting
trails to Prickett's Fort State Park
and the future trail to Morgantown.
Winding along
the West Fork River in the rural
heart of West Virginia, the West
Fork River Trail covers
approximately 16 miles while going
from Fairmont to Shinnston,

The Head of the Mon River Park is
located at the point where the
Tygart River and the West Fork River
join to form the Monongahela River.
While accessible by boat, it is a
great point for fishing and
picnicking.
Pump Station Park is located on the
eastern shore of the Monongahela
River just below Millersville.
Accessible by boat it has a small
pavilion providing a picnic and

Located along the West Fork River
Rail Trail, the Hutchinson Park will
be the newest facility under
MCPARC's direction. Plans for the
future include, expanding the
baseball facilities, developing a
trail head and parking facility for
trail users, a multipurpose
soccer/football field, playground
and other recreational
